Irrational Man (12A) A tormented philosophy professor (Joaquin Phoenix) considers murdering a corrupt judge to find meaning in his life. Friday and Monday at 6pm, Saturday at 8.30pm, Sunday and Tuesday at 7.15pm and Wednesday and Thursday at 8.15pm.

The Gift (15) Gordo (Edgerton, Zero Dark Thirty), a dimly recalled school buddy, bumps into Simon and Robyn (Bateman, Identity Thief, and Hall, The Town), and gets invited to dinner. He delivers a thoughtful thank you present and all’s well with the world. Except that he then keeps delivering presents, showing up unannounced on increasingly flimsy pretexts. Edgerton’s directorial debut boasts classic stalker movie qualities, enriched with some impressive tricks of his own. Friday at 8.15pm and Saturday at 6pm.

Max (12A) After U.S. Marine Kyle Wincott is killed in Afghanistan, Max, his highly trained service dog, is too traumatized to remain in service. Back in the U.S., Kyle’s family adopts the dog, but teenage brother Justin (Josh Wiggins) has problems of his own and doesn’t want the animal. However, Max may be Justin’s only chance to learn what really happened to his brother. With the help of a dog-savvy friend, Justin and Max begin to bond, and set out to unravel the mystery of Kyle’s death. Saturday at 3.30pm and Sunday at 2.30pm.

45 Years (15) Kate Mercer and her husband are excitedly planning a party to celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary. However, one week before the celebration, a letter arrives for her husband. The body of his first love has been discovered, frozen in the icy glaciers of the Swiss Alps. As the party nears, there might not be a marriage left to celebrate. Sunday at 3pm, Monday and Thursday at 8.15pm, Tuesday at 2pm and 5pm and Wednesday at 6pm.
