Fundraisers at Mars Petcare’s Melton manufacturing plant have organised a party in the park family day to raise funds for Hounds for Heroes, Rainbows Children’s Hospice, Pablo’s Horse Sanctuary and Dogs Trust.

The event (9am to 4pm) will be held in the town’s Play Close Park on Saturday.

Attractions will include a giant sandpit, a bandstand DJ, stocks and sponges, dog agility, a scavenger hunt, four bouncy castles, a dog agility show, family and pet photography, barbecue and bake sale.

There will also be demonstrations by military working dogs and children will be able to see a working fire engine.

Last year, a similar Mars Petcare led event at Melton County Park, ‘Pounds for Hounds,’ raised £2,296 for Hounds for Heroes.

Organiser Pete Wakefield said: “This year’s charities were chosen by members of the public. We’ve moved the venue so that its closer to the heart of the town.

“Bring the family and bring your dogs and enjoy a fun day out for good causes.

“There’ll be a number of surprises and entry is free.”
