A male choir who have been singing for 56 years are in need of a new conductor and musical director.

The Melton Mowbray Male Voice Choir would like anyone who has the relevant musical skills to conduct in four part harmony or would like a conducting opportunity to apply.

The successful candidate would tutor the individual harmony groups on practice nights and revise the music for concert performances.

The choir, which has a membership of 25, takes part in concerts, entertainment for various interest groups and retirement homes and combined choir events. Its concerts have also helped raise thousands of pounds for local and national charities.

Its repertoire consists of a wide variety of popular classics, folk songs, ballads and songs from musical shows.

The choir, currently on a break through July and August, practice at Sage Cross Methodist Church on Monday nights, 7.30pm-9pm, in the community room (Morrisons car park entrance).

Arrangements can be made for prospective candidates to come to a choir practice night, meet the choir, look over the collection of music and have an opportunity to conduct.

New voices are always welcome. Come and sing, or just sit and listen on a Monday night. The cost of membership is minimal.
