Melton Theatre puts its weight behind the merry month of May as it kicks off a run of top notch comedy this weekend.
One of the UK’s top stand-ups Kevin Bridges gets the month of mirth under way with a sold-out work in progress show on Sunday.
The Glaswegian comedian, a regular performer on TV, chose Melton as one of a handful of venues to road test new material ahead of a forthcoming UK tour.
Another popular TV and radio performer follows on Saturday, May 9 when self-titled German comedy ambassador Henning Wehn returns to the Asfordby Road venue with his new tour, Eins, Zwei, DIY (7.30pm).
Exactly a week later Radio 4 favourite Jeremy Hardy treats a Melton audience to his latest set (8pm).
The 10th series of Jeremy Hardy Speaks to the Nation was broadcast on Radio 4 last year, and he is also well-known for his appearances on The News Quiz and I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue.
But Jeremy is also on the road all year round and has never stopped doing live shows since 1984.
The international comedy theme continues on Wednesday, May 20 when critically-acclaimed Canadian stand-up Tom Stade hits the stage direct from sell-out performances at the Melbourne and Edinburgh Comedy Festivals.
The month is capped by something for the children – not too mention grown-ups – when The Basil Brush Show brings The Full On Fox Tour to Melton Theatre for a half-term treat on Tuesday, May 26. Boom boom!
