Another Wax Comical night is being held at the Noels Arms tonight. Hosted by Jon Pearson, the comics will be Tom Green, Paul Mutagaga and Sol Bernstein.

Asfordby Soul night kickstarts again on Friday. Build up your strength and energy to show what you can do on the floor to the best of classic and Northern Soul, R&B and Motown.

Jacuzzi Soup debut at The Black Swan on Friday. Jacuzzi Soup is a fun six-piece party band, playing soul, funk and disco music that has been carefully chosen to get you on your feet and keep you there. They have a fun, engaging female lead, with female backing vocals, stunning guitar riffs, funky bass, brass and organ.

The Boutones will headline at The Nags Head in Harby on Friday. The Boutones play covers, but steer away from the traditional format in terms of song choice and style; playing them as though they might be originals. The experience gleaned as professional musicians along with a mutual love of soul, rhythm and blues and Americana, plus tight harmonies and a vintage vibe gives the band a unique style.

The Carington Arms at Ashby Folville is the place to be to see Smokin’ Aces on Saturday. Smokin’ Aces, a tight three-man nucleus that punches above its sonic weight. The set comprises a challenging selection of classic songs spanning a number of decades and genres.

V8 will rev straight into action at the Genny B on Saturday. V8 are a thunderous four-piece hard rock band who play an eclectic mix of rock and metal. Some of the bands covered by them are, Metallica, System Of A Down, Drowning Pool and Disturbed.

The Grapes hosts Mikey Soulman on Saturday. For Nottinghamshire-based Mikey, music has always been a big part of his life from when he was little. He was brought up on singers like Stevie Wonder, Luther Vandross and Lionel Richie. His set features soul and Motown songs.

The Noels is having a jukebox evening on Saturday instead of a live band. In the words of Corinne Bailey Rae and Joan Jett “Girl put a record on, tell me your favourite song” and “Put another dime in the jukebox, baby.”

Acoustic duo Harriet Carter and Benn Hartmann will perform at the Noels Arms on Sunday. Harriet’s powerful and sometimes soulful voice together with the axe mastery of Benn provides a massive acoustic back drop for the pair.

On Sunday, at The Geese and Fountain, in Croxton Kerrial, there will be another Acoustic Folk Club. Take an instrument, your voice, a song or just your ears and have fun. All welcome to play, sing or just listen.

Sunday sees Reuben and Jonny host an open mic session at the Genny B. If you fancy a crack at it, or just a pint listening to some nice songs, then this venue can accommodate your needs.

Seasoned performer Shorrel Jade will take to the stage at The Half Moon on Sunday. Shorrel has taken her passion and hard work to a whole new level. She knuckled down and gained a first-class degree in music and performing arts. Once the foundations were put into place, she carefully crafted what is now fast becoming one of the UK’s most authentic and sought-after tributes to the timeless musical era of soul and Motown.
