Melton’s sixth Santa fun run is just a couple of days away and this is your last chance to sign up to be sure of your place.
The Rotary Club of Melton Mowbray is organising the event in the country park on Sunday and hopes hundreds of people of all ages will join in.
There are two routes including 5km and a one mile fully marshalled course. The fun run is open to groups and is suitable for wheelchair users and dog walkers.
The entry fee £12 for adults and £6 for children aged five-12 (free entry for children aged four and under) will support Rotary charities leaving runners and walkers to raise sponsorship for their chosen charity.
A free Santa suit is provided to all paying entrants (early collection of suits is available) and all participants will receive a medal at the finish.
Julia Hinde, one of the organisers, said: “Come and join in the fun and support your favourite charity. There is a Santa suit for everyone!
“We already have teams for Click Sergeant, RSPCA, St Mary’s Primary School, Air Ambulance, Guiding, British Heart Foundation, Melton Rugby Football Club, Macmillan Cancer Support, Cystic Fibrosis, Melton Mencap and many more.”
Registration for the event takes place at 9am. The popular best dressed dog and cutest kid competition begin at 10am, and at 10.30am, a warm up will be led by healthy Elf Susan Rathbone.
The action will start at 11am after Mayor of Melton councillor Jeanne Douglas has finished her countdown.
There will also be hot food and drinks available from the country park cafe and sponsoring the event this year are Melton Town Estate, 103 The Eye, Pets at Home, Mars in the community, PBS office and Truform Buildings.
