Fireworks to light up borough skyline

Have your say

A host of spectacular firework displays for all the family will take place across the borough this week.

At Thorpe Arnold Cricket Club a bonfire party has been organised for all the family tonight. Tickets are £5 on the gate with under fives free. There will be a barbecue and refreshments. The bonfire will be lit at 7pm with the fireworks starting at 7.30pm.

A bonfire and fireworks event will be held on Twyford recreation ground tonight at 7pm. Admission is £4 for adults and £2 for children, and food and drink will be on sale. People are advised not to bring their own fireworks or sparklers.

In Melton, an alien apocalypse-themed bonfire party has been organised by Twinlakes on Saturday. (For details see page 25).

n Last night a firework display was taking place at Asfordby Acres on Hoby Road. The event was organised by The Town Estate and included a small fun fair and barbecue.

n There was also a fabulous night of bonfire entertainment in Play Close Park on Friday as The Town Estate and the Melton Lions Club put on a great family spectacle and organised a small fair with roundabouts, stalls and children’s treats.

Around 600 people attended and gave the fireworks a rapturous round of applause at the end.

n The Melton Times is aware of a number of other village events going on tonight and over the weekend but has only been able to publish the details of the events we were notified about at the time of going to press.

n Whether you are a fan of fireworks, enjoy waving sparklers or prefer to spend bonfire night huddled around a fire tucking into tasty treats, we would love to see photos of you and your family and friends enjoying the displays.

Email your pictures to saying where you are and who is in the picture and the Melton Times will do its best to publish them in future editions.
