Over 250 primary school children from Syston, Thurmaston and the surrounding villages will be taking part in the annual Jump2it! Dance Festival next week.

The festival will take place over four nights from Monday (March 16) until Thursday (March 19). Each show will start at 7pm at Longslade Community College, Thurmaston, and children will showcase their dance talent and choreography skills around this year’s theme ‘books’.

The dance festival - which is supported by the South Charnwood School Sports Partnership - is designed to develop children’s dance technique, build fitness and raise self-esteem in a non-competitive environment.

Ten schools will be taking part in the event.

Festival organiser Louise Jaggard, who was born and bred in Melton and now lives in Syston, said: “Last year’s launch event was incredible. We had amazing feedback from children, teachers and the audience who all told us it was a fantastic show. In fact it was so successful that we’ve doubled in size this year! It’s exciting to see so many children passionate about dance.”

Tickets are £5 each. Call Louise on 07738 042089 or email
