Have your say

As well as a busy Melton schedule, there’s also plenty going on in our villages this weekend, including a Centre Stage double bill tomorrow.

There’s a pub quiz to end them all at Plungar Village Hall as Rebecca Mordan and Sharon Andrew (AKA Scary Little Girls) present It’s Your Round on Friday from 7.30pm.

Join quiz mistress and pub landlady Pat Pinch and her lively bar girl Liberty Belle as they take over the venue with live music, prizes, laughter and a few drinks.

For tickets, call (01949) 860257, and for further details visit www.scarylittlegirls.co.uk

* Fresh from their performance at Hose last weekend, Fordante bring their From Strauss To The Movies show to Old Dalby Village Hall, also on Friday (7.30pm).

Award-winning film composer Phil Mountford lead the classical ensemble through a programme of music from the dance hall to the big screen. They journey through waltzes, polka and tango to their own Venetian and Celtic-inspired music and popular film soundtracks.

For tickets, call (01664) 823391, and for more information, visit www.fordante.com

* Over at Harby, panto season returns on Wednesday as a four-day run of Ali Baba begins at the village hall.

The Harby Harlequins have reprised their popular 2007 production of the classic tale and brought it up to date with several nods to current affairs.

Kasia Mills takes up the title role, while Andy Smith is Mustafa, leader of the thieves, alongside a host of young talent from Vale of Belvoir villages.

Evening performances begin at 7.30pm with an additional matinee show at 2pm on Saturday.

Tickets cost £8 for adults and £4 children with Wednesday evening performance free to senior citizens. All tickets for Saturday evening are £8.

Call the box office on (01949) 860713.
