A fresh call has been made for new nominations for the next round of Green Plaque awards honouring Leicestershire’s people and places.

Nominations for the County Hall scheme close on January 23. A dozen of the county’s most famous people and buildings will then be shortlisted before votes are sought from the public for the top six.

The push for New Year nominations follows a successful first round of awards which last month included an honour for Monty Python actor Graham Chapman, whose TV comedy pal Michael Palin attended the plaque unveiling at his former home in Burton Road, Melton. Visit www.leics.gov.uk/greenplaques
