More than 2,200 excited fans and counting have already flocked to Melton’s The Regal Cinema to see the record-breaking film Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
There was a full house for its midnight screening, with cinema-goers and staff adding to the fun by dressing up for the special occasion.
And there was even an appearance by an official Empire Strikes Back stormtrooper who felt the force of Melton’s excitement.
Jacob Mundin, who runs The Regal with wife Bryony, said: “The Star Wars opening night was a fantastic success.
Every seat was full, with most people arriving a full hour before the start of the show to take in the atmosphere and get into the Star Wars spirit.
“The film itself was magnificent, perfectly capturing the tone of the originals while also opening the door for a new generation. It had a huge emotional punch, heaps of nostalgia and hilarious moments.”
He added: “So far we’ve had more than 2,200 people in to enjoy the film - it’s already our fifth biggest ever film with more than half of it’s run to go.
“We’ve heard nothing but good things with many people booking in to see it for a second time on the way out.
“It will be back for February half term as it has proved so popular and well-received.”
