Town centre revellers urged to get behind Melton's Purple Flag bid

Revellers are being urged to play their part in showcasing Melton as a fantastic place to visit and enjoy tomorrow night when the town centre is assessed for a prestigious Purple Flag award.

A Purple Flag is awarded if a town meets or surpasses the standards of excellence in managing the evening economy.

Melton’s town centre will be assessed by two Purple Flag assessors between 5pm tomorrow and 5am on Saturday. They will be assessing the town centre against criteria including town centre appeal, mix of visitors, cleanliness, use of venues, leisure and culture, use of open spaces and parks and more.

They will be talking to proprietors and customers of the town’s restaurants, cafes, pubs and takeaways, leisure centre, theatre and cinema throughout the evening.

To coincide with their visit a special one-off vintage classic car meet, with live music, will be taking place in the Market Place tomorrow from 5pm to 9pm. Entertainment will include live music from the band Baker’s Treat and community radio station 103 The Eye.
