Over 50 children aged three to 11 attended the fun-packed week of learning and socialising, which finished with a barbecue and games competition on the final day.

Some of the younger children who’re still on the lead rein only attended the shorter three day camp whereas the older children attended the full four-day experience with ponies.

Activities included show jumping, cross country, dressage and pony club games. Endurance rider Fiona Videla also visited the camp on the first day to give an introduction.

One of the camp committee organisers, Samantha Campbell, said: “For the first time this year, youngsters had the chance to try polocrosse with Chris Milburn, an instructor from Warwickshire.

“Polocrosse is a combination of polo and lacrosse played by teams of three. Each player has a stick with a loose net on the end. Everyone had a go un-mounted which was great fun, even in the rain.

“As well as mounted activities the children were able to work towards achievement badges and have a go at laser shooting, which is part of the sport of tetrathlon.”
