Melton Gig Guide: August 5 to 10 - Melton Times

The Noels Arms hosts The Troubadours on Friday. They play classic tunes with golden harmonies and melodies good enough to eat.

The Melton Rotary Enterprise Group is hosting a Soultown evening at the Market Tavern on Friday. On stage will be The Kommitments, Jahson and Ika.

The Kommitments are a ten piece tribute to the movie The Commitments. Their music is instantly recognisable with a horn and a sweet soul rhythm section.

Jahson who performed with The Drifters for five years said: “One thing I know about music is it takes time to grow, I do remember the days of shaking in my boots to sing just one song. All of life is about being a small insignificant to a wise old Oak.”

Ika is new soul sound hailing from the West Midlands. He fuses new soul beats to traditional soul melodies.

The Generous Briton host regulars BaKlash on Saturday. They will bring their high voltage rock and roll to the pub playing sounds from The Beatles, Stones, Kinks, T-Rex, Sabbath, Fleetwood Mac, Deep Purple, Kasabian, Kings of Leon and more.

Versatile male vocalist Danny Fisher is the guest of honour at The Grapes on Saturday. He will cover classic songs from the 50s, 60s and 70s from the likes of T.Rex, Dean Martin, Take That and Neil Diamond.

Head on down to the Geese and Fountain at Croxton Kerrial on Sunday, to hear rock ballad sounds from Lee Robertshaw. His diverse repertoire of hits include rock anthems by The Eagles, Bad Company, Whitesnake and Bon Jovi, and sing-a-long indie anthems by Coldplay, Oasis, Snow Patrol and The Killers.

Tuesday sees Melton Folk Club gather in the Tiger Room at The Crown, a new venture for people of all ages and hosted by Adrian Kerr. Visit www.facebook.com/meltonfolkclub

There is another open mic night scheduled at The Three Crowns - Steamin’ Billy, in Oakham, on Wednesday. It will be hosted by Simon Booth.
