Knitters and crocheters wanted for Meton '˜yarnbombing' project

An exciting community project is happening this Spring and is on the hunt for Melton knitters and crocheters to take part.

The ‘yarnbombing’ project is underway and inviting residents of Melton to crochet and knit pieces of art which will be hung around the Baldocks Lane play park from the end of the month.

Jo Frederick, who is leading the project, is currently fundraising to raise money for new play equipment and is working with Melton Borough Council to create the exciting outdoor art exhibition.

The project hopes to bring more visitors to the play area and to raise awareness of the parks hidden location off Baldocks Lane. If you’re interested in taking part and would like more information call Jo on 07522 697464 or email [email protected]

Sam Kitson, cultural health project worker for Melton Council, said: “This is a great way for the local community to be a part of an exciting outdoor art exhibition. We hope that over the next few months people will visit the park to look at the artwork and then use it more regularly.
