Big weekend of comedy rolls into town

Several different venues across Melton are preparing to host some of the biggest names in comedy as part of Dave's Leicester Comedy Festival (February 10-14).

Melton Theatre is hosting four stand-ups.

Starting on Wednesday, February 10 (7.30pm), The Thinking Drinkers are in town. Tickets £15 including a £1 booking fee.

The Bottle Rocket Comedy Club has a tip top line up on Thursday, February 11 (7.30pm), to be headlined by Nathan Caton, as seen on BBC Live at the Apollo. He will be joined by Paul McCaffrey and Steve Bugeja. Tickets cost £9 including a £1 booking fee.

Then, on Friday, February 12 (8pm), it’s the turn of Melton’s very own sensation John Pearson, who performs his ‘I Am What I Am’ routine. Tickets cost £6 including a £1 booking fee.

    Thursday, February 18 sees Bean Keaton step out the shadows to present the pub quiz as Father Austin Purcell - his character from the hit Channel 4 sitcom Father Ted. The show starts at 7.30pm. Ticket prices vary on the number of people in a team.

    Melton’s Noels Arms pub is hosting two comedy events.

    The first is Wax Comical - Comedy Chip Shop on February 11 (8-11pm), - join the Noels Arms resident compere and Melton’s own Jon Pearson for a feast of comedy talent. Includes fish and chips on the night. Call to reserve a free seat.

    The second is a Comedy Spectacular Night on February 14 (8-11pm), - see comedians Jon Pearson, Chris Norton-Walker and Dane Baptiste. Tickets are £6.

    Elsewhere 54 A King Street coffee shop is hosting an intimate funny show from Lloyd Griffith on February 13 (6-7pm). Tickets are £5.

    More Coffee Co are involved too. They are hosting two events.

    The hilarious Chris Bett and Angus Dunican take to the stage on February 13 (7.30-8pm). Chris gives a taste of his critically acclaimed observational show - Social Animal, followed by the witty and articulate Angus Dunican who comes to share some of his bizarre experiences. Tickets are £5.

    On February 14 (12.30pm, 1.45pm, 3pm and 4.15pm), comedian Tom Allen will present his ‘Comedy in a Car sketch. Tickets are £12 and are limited.
