BIG Weekend of comedy returns to Melton next year

For the second year running a special weekend of comedy is planned to take place in Melton as part of the annual Leicester Comedy Festival.

The Melton BIG Weekend will feature stars from TV and the UK comedy circuit, as well special unique festival events.

The event takes place from February 16 to 19, 2017, and confirmed venues at this stage include Melton Theatre, More Coffee Co, 54a King Street (aka Nigel’s Cafe) and The Noel Arms.

Organisers are keen to keep the full programme under wraps until the official festival brochure is released in early November, however they have revealed that Jarred Christmas is confirmed to host ‘Pick of the Fest’ at Melton Theatre on Saturday, February 18.

From November further information and tickets will be available from www.comedy-festival.co.uk and from the Melton Theatre Box Office.

Sponsoring the event again this year are the Melton BID (Business Improvement District).

BID manager Shelagh Core said: “We’re really excited to be part of Leicester Comedy Festival 2017. It will be a great opportunity to showcase the town and its great venues, with a great line up of comedy entertainment over the weekend.”

The main Leicester Comedy Festival, which is the longest running comedy festival in Europe, runs from February 8 to 26, 2017, and is expected to be its biggest yet.
