Stoke Rochford: Rain hits scoring at 20th Seniors Open

More than 100 players competed in the 20th Stoke Rochford Seniors Open on a rain-affected day.

Despite the worst-ever conditions, the event was superbly organised by Mike Dickinson aided by a willing band of volunteers.

Peterborough Milton golfer Graham Marshall was the only player to break 40 points, winning Group A and the overall title withj 42.

Home golfer Phil White won Group B with 36 pts, while Stoke clubmate Don Werner took Group C with 37.

Runner-up Trevor Broadhead was also the day’s best Stoke scorer with 38, winning him the Ben Tyler Trophy for the second time.

Other runners-up were D. Ventners (Ely) and Ron Kent (Stoke) both with 36, and third place prizes went to J. Madallo (38pts), D. Beaver (35pts), both of Peterborough Milton, and Greg Ewart (35pts), of Stoke.
