The latest round of Stoke Rochford Golf Club’s seniors Winter Warmer competition was ‘Sharman’s Shambles, a format introduced many years ago by former member Bill Sharman.

Playing in teams of three, scoring was best two from three medal play on the front nine and stableford on the back nine.

Subtracting the stableford score from the medal score produced a total with the lowest winning.

Brian Ayto, Brian Keightley and Alan Dolby won with 65-44=21 from Keith Dugmore, Phil Hewes and John Wright (65-41=24) who took second place on countback from Graham Manton, Chris Woof and Tim Haward (64-40=24).

That pushed Peter Gill, Steve Major and Alan Hayward (60-36=24) into fourth, also after countback.

After eight weeks of the series Eddie Plant remains in the overall lead with 25 points, two ahead of Greg Ewart with Gareth Hughes and Mike Nixon in joint third on 20.
