Stoke Rochford golf: Keith and Phil retain Invitation Open title

Stoke Rochford Golf Club seniors held their annual Invitation Open which served up another keenly-fought competition.

Reigning champions Keith Dugmore and his guest Phil Toon, from Rufford Park, retained their title with 47 points.

Countback was used to decide second place with 2012 champions Greg Ewart and Richard Haines (Melton) getting the nod with 45 points from third-placed Jeff Purdy and M. Stewart (Radcliffe).

Barry Gaunt and David Thornton (Melton) were fourth with 43 on countback from fifth-placed Brian Ayto and P. Cunliffe (The Nottinghamshire).

Nearest-the-pin for home players on the seventh hole was Greg Ewart, while Eddie Hammond, of Kirby Muxloe, took the visitors’ prize on the 12th.

Mike Graves produced one of the day’s highlights with a hole-in-one on the third hole.
