Stoke Rochford Golf: Gill moves into Winter Warmers contention

They took part in a drawn pairs betterball format with players able to choose two holes on which both scores counted before the round started.

The clear winners with 50 points were Peter Gill and Alan Dolby, two ahead of runners-up Brian Ayto and Dave Wilkins.

Third place was decided on countback with new seniors’ captain Graham Manton and Mike Palmer having a better back nine than fourth-placed Phil White and Tim Haward, both pairs having accumulated 45 points.

Eddie Plant retains his overall lead on 30 points, while Greg Ewart and Peter Gill both have 26.

Don Werner now leads the Slack Goblet chase with eight single points. Nine others have seven singles.

A total of 75 five players have so far competed in the series.
