A GROUP of five Stilton Striders made the trip to Market Bosworth for the first race in this year’s LRRL Summer League, the Hinckley Half-Marathon.
The road race, over the rolling hills around Bosworth Water Trust, provided a decent challenge in ideal running conditions on a warm spring day which attracted a field of around 1,300 runners.
Andy Robinson was the first Strider home in 1hr 32min 23secs followed by Richard Gray (1.36.07), Andy Nicholls (1.40.19), Catherine Voyce (1.55.34) and Harriet Pettingill (2.07.07).
l A quartet of Striders travelled the short distance to run the five-mile Wymeswold Waddle.
Reversing the positions of last year’s event, Mike Brighty produced a time of 35min 39secs, a personal best, to finish ahead of clubmate Wayne Hackett (36.35).
Sally Renwick finished in a creditable time of 54:40 with Richard Angrave, representing his first club Wymeswold, home in 51.51 to beat his previous best by four minutes.
