Stilton Strider clocks superb comeback time at Ashby

Have your say

STILTON Striders had notable performances at both the Ashby 5 road race and the Belvoir Challenge last weekend.

Paul Kerr led the team home in his comeback race with an impressive 29min 19secs time in the latest Leicestershire Road Running League Winter Series race at Ashby.

With more than 500 runners crossing the border into Derbyshire, Paul was ably supported by Richard Gray (35.38), Dan Valencia (37.56), Richard Angrave (53.15) and Sally Renwick, who ran a new personal best of 54.18.

One Strider, Andy Nicholls, decided to make the Belvoir Challenge even more testing by completing the muddy, hilly, off-road 15-mile course carrying a bucket to collect funds for charity. He completed the event in a creditable 2hr 25mins.

In the 26-mile option, Richard Gray (4.43), Mike Brighty (5.03) and Gary Christmas (5.36) made the most of the home-made cakes to keep up their energy levels as the snow started to fall.
