Old Dalby are set for an exciting end of season run-in after a batsman-inspired win over Newark R and M lifted them to second in Division M.
Dalby lost the toss and were put in to bat, and after a slow start Dalby’s openers picked up the pace and soon the runs were mounting up.
Rob Herrick finished on 74 and Tom Driver, just back from honeymoon, added 76 to the total.
However this was not the end of the scoring as Ben Wass (59), new signing Wilf Conway (35) and youngster Alfie Greaves (41 not out) all helped Dalby on to a record total of 344-8 in 40 overs.
Newark’s innings started badly with both openers going in the third over.
Apart from Luc Chignell (47) the visitors offered little resistance and they were all out for 108 runs in 24.2 overs.
The damage was inflicted by Will Gent (3 for 18), Alfie Greaves (3 for 6), and Joe Gant (2 for 29) to seal a 20-point haul.
