Sophie Hahn targets more titles after three European Championship golds

Hahn capped a stellar week at the championships with a third gold as she anchored the Great Britain team to victory in the Universal 4x100m relay on Sunday.

The Paralympic champion opened by winning her first European title over 200m last Thursday in a time of 26.51secs, breaking a championship record which had stood for 13 years.

Two days later she was back on track for her favourite event, the T38 100m, and was heavy favourite to retain her title.

And she duly swept to her second gold in another European Championship record time of 12.52secs.

“I would love to defend my titles and keep getting stronger and quicker,” she said.

“I know my rivals are catching up with me, so I am taking each year as it comes.

“It is a huge honour. I came here to defend my title, but I knew it would be hard.”

After racing to the sprint double gold in the T38 100m and 200m, the 21-year-old spearheaded a team featuring Zac Shaw, Nathan Maguire and Laura Sugar to secure Britain’s 20th gold medal of the competition, ahead of France and Italy.

The Paralympic champion now has five European titles to her name, having won double world championship gold in London a year ago and become Commonwealth Games champion in the T38 100m in April.
