It was the first time many of the Year 3 and 4 children had participated in such an event, and as with previous events, the games were managed excellently by Leicester Tigers Academy players studying at Brooksby Melton College.

The games were played with passion and pace, and with fantastic support from family and friends.

The festival was the latest in a series of events run over the past two years by Melton RFC in conjunction with the Melton and Belvoir School Sports Partnership. More than 1,000 children have played rugby as a direct result.

Sherard Primary School (pictured) were selected to represent the area in the county finals next spring.

Other teams to take part were Scalford, Old Dalby, Ab Kettleby, Swallowdale, Asfordby Hill and Somerby.

Both the club and partnership would like to thank everyone who supported the event.

* Melton RFC minis and juniors train and play on Sunday mornings from 10.30am, and new players are always welcome.
