Melton RFC set for Wooodrush RFC semi-final clash

Have your say

Melton RFC had their Midlands Senior Vase semi-final opponents confirmed on Saturday when Woodrush thrashed Burntwood in their re-arranged quarter-final tie.

Gareth Collins’ side will now travel to the Birmingham club on Saturday, February 14.

Like Melton, Woodrush lead the way in their league - Midlands 3 West (South) - with 12 wins from 14 games, and the winners of this tie will be firm favourites to go on and be crowned Midlands champions.

Melton will have the comfort of knowing they shut out Woodrush’s nearest league rivals Bedworth 26-0 in the quarter-finals at Burton Road last month. Bedworth are currently second, but on the same points as Woodrush.

The other Vase semi-final sees Leicestershire rivals Vipers travel to Worcestershire to face Upton-on-Severn.

* Melton return to league action on Saturday when the Midlands 3 East (North) leaders visit Mellish (kick-off 2.15pm).
