After a blank weekend, Melton RFC Colts were keen to carry on the good work in the league and they did that with an explosive start.
Within five minutes they were two tries up thanks to fantastic pack work with Jordan and Webster steeling good ball and offloading to Morgan-Smith who drove over. Green converted.
From the re-start, the pack again recycled the ball and moved upfield to the 22 where Green was released for his first of the day, which he then converted.
Not to be outdone, Bosworth woke up and replied with two quick tries, but it was Melton’s turn to reply before the break with good work from the back row of Morgan-Smith, Wakefield and Deans.
They released Barradell and Brooks in a well-worked move and then found Wood who crossed the whitewash following a mazy run. Green again added the extras.
After strong words from the Bosworth coaches and a reshuffle, the visitors came out strongly in the second half with three unanswered tries, while Melton picked up a yellow card.
With 10 minutes left and trailing by as many points, all of Melton’s subs came on to add some fresh legs, spice and energy,
The pack won a great scrum against the head, and quick ball from Cank released Green who chipped over for Robinson to run under the posts.
Green converted, and almost from the restart ill-discipline cost Bosworth a penalty. After discussion with the team, captain Wakefield pointed to the post and it was all level as Green slotted the ball over.
More great work from the pack drove Bosworth backwards before releasing Green to run through for his second converted try, capping a massive team performance by all 19 players who played their part.
