The event has been organised by Claire Lomas, who recently walked the London 10,000 in a robotic Re-walk suit, and will set off from Eye Kettleby Lakes at 10.30am.

Around 300 runners have already entered the half-marathon which will follow a challenging, but scenic course, taking in Great Dalby, Little Dalby and skirting Burrough Hill Country Park.

The family 5k fun run will be held around Eye Kettleby Lakes, and a one-mile run has also been added. Ont-the-day entry for the one-mile fun run costs £5, and the 5k is £7.

There will also be a family entertainment area at the start/finish with inflatables and games for children, a magician, and a visit from Peppa Pig. Live music will be performed by Melton singing star George Simpson.

There will be a variety of refreshments including hog roast, burgers, hot dogs, cream teas, cakes, and hot and cold drinks. Entry is £3 per person for the day with unlimited rides.

All profits from the community event will go to the Nicholls Spinal Injury Foundation who are carrying out research into a cure for paralysis.
