Pork Pie Plodders make Hungarton 7 bow

INTREPID Pork Pie Plodders made their debut at the toughest road race in Leicestershire, the Hungarton 7 last Wednesday.

Feeling confident in their new kit they lined up with 450 other runners to take on the challenge. The first Plodder home in a time of 53min 10secs was Zenon Kurys, followed by Andrzej (Jim) Dziemianko in 57.17. The first lady Plodder home was Emma Machowska in 1hr 02min 28secs with Jane Scatchard (1.10.25), Andrea Dziemianko (1.10.13) and Teresa Wzryszcz (1.10.16) all crossing the line in close succession.

l Stilton Striders Richard Angrave and Wayne Hackett took part in the Notts Heritage Grand Prix, a series of four races in 10 days.

The series starts at the National Water Sports Centre at Holme Pierrepont with a 10K race which Richard completed in 1hr 04min 36secs, while Wayne clocked 46min 11secs in his first Grand Prix.

The second race was a 5k at Wollaton Park with Richard running a PB of 29 minutes dead while Wayne ran 21.21. In the four-mile race at Rushcliffe Country Park, Richard recorded another PB of 41min 43secs and Wayne ran 29.06.

The final five-mile race at Colwick Park saw Richard take three seconds off his PB with a time of 51.48 with Wayne crossing the line in 38.07.
