On a busy day in the race calendar, the inaugural Longhorn running event took place in the picturesque grounds of Thoresby Hall in North Nottinghamshire.
With 10k, half and full marathon options on offer, a looped course was used taking in a good mix of farm track, woodland trail and Tarmac path, all dry after recent warm weather.
With enough undulations to keep interest, and without trashing the legs, Stilton Strider Rich Gray completed the marathon in an even-paced 3hr 44mins to finish in 10th place, of 35 finishers, and ninth male.
* Over at the Grantham Cup, a tough 10k at Belton, Rob Beers shaved a full six minutes off his time 12 months before, finishing in 45.55 for 30th place.
Clubmates Norman Starks and Tony Allen ran superb races, coming 55th and 90th in 48.51 and 52.48 respectively.
* Luke Eggleston was the only Stilton Strider to make the short trip to the iPro stadium for this year’s Derby 10k.
In brillant racing conditions, more than 4,000 took the start line, and Luke finished in a fantastic 168th place overall, just five seconds over the 40-minute mark.
