An icy morning saw the parkrun event organisers running early morning laps on Saturday to ensure the course was safe for runners to tackle.
For the second successive week, runners chose to brave the cold conditions and take part in Melton’s newest running event.
Having 262 runners come from far and wide for the inaugural event, organisers were expecting far less for week two, but it drew a healthy turnout of 201 runners.
Guided with the aid of the 16 volunteers, 72 of the 87 who returned for a second attempt returners clocked personal best times over the Melton Country Park 5km course, while 90 new faces completed their first parkrun.
