Another century stand between Zaheer Hussain (49) and Tom Glover (70 not out) secured a maximum 25 points for Egerton Park on Saturday.
The win took the Melton side up to their highest position of the season as they sit third in Division Three and within 29 points of the two promotion places.
Having won the toss and put the visitors into bat, Park bowled well and regularly took wickets as Newtown were bowled out cheaply.
Their best partnership of the innings yielded only 29 runs and the spin of Hussain (4 for 33) and Blunt (3 for 37) were the main beneficiaries.
They shared seven wickets between them and were ably supported by some fine fielding and excellent catching as the visitors were bowled out for just 135 inside 37 overs.
The home side got off to a terrible start in their reply as they lost two wickets for just one run in what otherwise would have been a near-perfect performance.
Glover’s unbeaten 70 came in quick time, including nine fours, and formed the majority of a 117-run third wicket stand with Hussain which took the home side to the brink of victory.
Park reached their target with fully 24 overs and seven wickets to spare.
On Saturday, they travel to fifth-placed Electricity Sports who sit just six points adrift.
