A TEAM of Stilton Striders ran the 100 lap relay at Saffron Lane on Friday to raise money for Rainbows hospice.
The Melton running club fielded a senior and junior team at the event with the aim of completing 100 laps of the track in one-and-a-half hours. There was a good-humoured rivalry between the teams with the juniors taking the lead on the first lap and keeping it until the end, winning in 2hr 8mins.
The youngest male member of the team was Matt Teirney who competed four laps with Ella who ran four laps, while sister Lucy ran five as the youngest girl in the team. The senior members gradually ran their way into second place, finishing three minutes further back.
This was the third time in as many years the winning trophy has come to Melton.
A special mention went to Amy Boswell who has recently returned after injury and ran two laps and also to Laura Hatherly, a new member who came and helped the cause.
