Egerton Park U13s skittle Market Overton in season opener

Have your say

For their first match of the season, Egerton Park Under 13s took on an enthusiastic Market Overton side on Sunday.

Having won the toss, Marko choose to bat, but Barber and Woods had six wickets in the bag within six overs.

A change of bowling brought an unforgettable moment when Hughes’ beautifully directed delivery caught the batman’s edge which accelerated the ball over the keeper’s right shoulder. Garnett instinctively thrust out his hand to take a spectacular catch, much to the disbelief of his team-mates.

Overton were all out for 62.

Barnard and Glover opened the batting for Park before Creed came in with 15 on the board. Garnett joined him soon after and slung his bat at anything which came his way. He was joined late on by Woods who saw Egerton Park to victory.

The great team performance was a credit to the four experienced coaches now working with the side, including Park’s latest Australian player/coach Zaheer Hussain.
