Burrough-on-the-Hill batsman James Taylor has been rewarded for his good form with an England contract.

The 25-year-old was awarded an increment contract by the ECB after playing 10 one-day internationals in the past 12 months.

The 16 England central contracts awarded each year are usually for Test cricketers only, and increment contracts are granted to county players who feature regularly in England’s limited-overs teams.

The Nottinghamshire batsman, who has also appeared in three Test matches for England, has enjoyed a breakthrough winter with the national side.

Good form during the ODI series in Sri Lanka earned him a seat on the plane to Australia where he has continued to impress.

He scored an unbeaten 98, his highest senior international score, in England’s World Cup opener against Australia, in Melbourne, on Saturday.

It was his 10th appearance for the ODI side since December, and his 12th in all since his debut against Ireland in 2011.
