A man-of-the-match display from Ian Kirk guided Premier Division leaders Barkby United to an impressive top-of-the-table win over Kegworth on Saturday.
Kegworth won the toss and choose to bat first with county bowler Will Fazackerly taking a wicket in each of his first two overs, including that of overseas player Williams.
The hosts lost wickets at regular intervals and at 65-6 looked in danger of failing to make three figures, but their later batsman improved the situation and they were all out for 165 in the 47th over.
Barkby bowled and fielded well, with Ian Kirk (3 for 33) and Alex Smithard (2 for 22) the pick of the bowlers, while Eamonn Bourke’s 10 overs went for just 21 runs.
Barkby made their intentions clear from the start as Tom Flowers, in particular, made an aggressive start, hitting six fours in his 31 before he was brilliantly caught by Issac off Scottern.
The visitors lost the wickets of Stapleford-Jones, Fazackerly and Tew and at 105-4 still had work to do.
But Ian Kirk (80 not out) once again was the main contributor with the bat.
Despite losing the wickets of captain Steve Flowers for a cameo 14, which included a huge six, and Ben Silver for five, Aiden Morris took Barkby past the target with a six for a four-wicket victory which puts them 13 points clear at the top of the league.
