Barkby United maintained their good form as they picked up another 20 points for a dominant winning draw against Kirby Muxloe on Saturday.
Kirby won the toss and inserted Barkby whose openers Steve Flowers and Ian Kirk put on 42 for the first wicket before Flowers was given out caught behind for 21.
Tom Flowers, playing his first match of the season, joined Kirk and they put on 152 for the second wicket before Flowers was caught behind for 70.
Kirk continued to attack the bowling and reached his century off 88 balls, his innings ending when he was caught in the deep for 107.
Useful contributions from Townsend (20) and Drake (20) enabled Barkby to reach an excellent 281-7 from their 45 overs.
The home side’s innings got off to a bad start when James Kirk dismissed both openers with only six runs on the board.
Barkby made continuous bowling changes, but Kirby’s batsman continued to play defensively. And despite James Kirk taking another wicket, Chris Pick claiming two wickets and Waplington another, the only other wicket to fall was a run out.
Kirby batted out for a draw, their innings ending on 126-7.
