The half-marathon and 7km road race have been postponed until Saturday, September 19 because of the threat of Covid-19, while Frisby Fun Run organisers decided to cancel their event altogether.

The Frisby Fun Run, which is a valuable annual fundraiser for Frisby Primary School, had been hoping to celebrate the event’s 10th anniversary, but bowed to the inevitable on Tuesday.

Those who have already entered have been contacted with options.

“Following the latest government announcement, we have decided that sadly, Frisby Fun Run 2020 needs to be cancelled,” a statement read.

“The committee has deliberated over several options, but we have made the decision that this is a cancellation, not a postponement.

“We are a small charity and this event raises money for our much-loved school. We hope that you can join us all in 2021 instead.

“We thank everyone who has entered so far and supported us over the last 10 years.”

Registration for the Belvoir events, which had been due to take place in Hose on Sunday, April 5, has been suspended until updates are made to accommodate the new date.

Those already entered will be able to run, with no additional fees, but registered runners who cannot make the new date can get a refund by contacting race organiser Ian Smith.
