Upper Broughton’s short Belvoir League season came to an end with a fine Vale Division win over Wymeswold.
The visitors chose to bat first and were soon in trouble as Andy Burton took two of his five-wicket haul in his first over.
Bowley (37) and Barry (17) took Wymeswold to a decent score, but were slowed by some good bowling by Ian Townsend (2 for 13) late in the innings.
Stand-in keeper ‘Chick’ Marshall also took three catches as Wymeswold were restricted to 110-7.
In reply, Broughton’s batsmen all got in with Gillan (14) the highest scorer, but they were carried over the winning line with just two balls left thanks to a fine unbeaten 57 from Denis Donovan.
The hosts completed a six-wicket win despite the best efforts of Jumbo Shelton (3 for 31).
