The hottest day of the year last Wednesday turned out well for five-time world champion Alan Scotthorne who qualified for the Middy £4,000 Lakeview final.
The Rotherham angler fishing down the track and across, on maggot, and caught 91lb 9oz which included carp to 5lb, skimmers to 2lb, and silvers, off peg seven.

* At Saturday’s qualifier, Scott Robinson threw his hat into the ring with top two Andy Searle and Dave Harper already contenders for the final in September.
Searle was the clear winner of the match, catching 117lb 1oz on maggot off canal peg two. He fished deep to catch carp to 5lb and skimmers to 3lb. Jason Farmery was this week’s winner of the Middy landing net raffle.

He fished maggot with milled expander groundbait for his net of commons, skimmers and F1s, catching down the track and across.
Regular Dave Harper finished a close second with 90lb 10lb.
