Stoke Rochford Golf Club’s ladies’ section hosted their second open of the season last Tuesday when 31 clubs were represented in an am/am in teams of four, with two scores to count on each hole.
Despite cool, windy conditions and fast greens there were some excellent scores.
The team of Sandy Rawlins (Blankney), Lotta Brewer (Canwick Park), Gill Barker (Market Rasen) and Helen Bradshaw (Canwick Park) won with 83 points, a point ahead of runners-up Gaynor Daykin, Liz Moses, Jan Machin and Kim Davies (Belton Woods).
Third place went to Karen Barron, Nancy Tatham, Gill Chatterton and Helen Pickles (all Lincoln), pushing Mary Jarvis, Marion Keene, Kay Moulden and Janet Heany (The Leicestershire) into fourth on a countback, both with 80 points.
* Stoke Rochford seniors’ trip to Belton Park to a hard-fought drawn match which could have gone either way, with four of the games halved and two ending on the 18th green.
