A Melton woman has raised £2,000 for The Dogs Trust by running the London Marathon on Sunday.
Michelle Farlow (27), of Kipling Drive, started training for her 26.2-mile challenge in September (2014).
She said: “I completed the race in a time of 4hrs 8mins. It was a little slower than I’d hoped for but the most important thing was that I did it, enjoyed it and raised money for a fantastic charity.
“When I crossed the finish line I just couldn’t wait to collect my medal. It was a once in a life time opportunity.
“I had great support on the day from both family and friends. They were positioned every four to five miles and it was brilliant to have so many familiar faces cheering me on throughout the race.”
Michelle said there was never a time when she felt like stopping and that her training paid off. She plans to enter the race again next year.
