Melton Mowbray Tennis Club: Men's teams make winning start to winter season

Melton Mowbray Tennis Club's men's teams got their Winter League campaign off to a flyer when both the first and third team men registered first match wins.

The third team started their Division Nine campaign early with a visit from Leicester University, and the Melton side proved too strong for the visitors and ran out with an 8-0 win.

Both pairings of Jason Wheatley and John Sturmey and teenager Ollie Aley and Jake Beagle took four sets each, with the loss of just three games.

* The men’s first team travelled to play a strongly-fancied Lutterworth First team in their Division One match and returned with the points following a 6-2 win.

Both pairings of skipper Ryan Parmar and James Rowe, and Tom Rowe with Pierre Luiggi collected three sets each.
