Melton Mowbray Golf Club: Ladies beat Stoke Rochford in Mail on Sunday KO

The course played well as Melton Mowbray Golf Club members took part in a fourball yellow peril competition in beautiful sunny weather.

The winning team were Guy Rayson, Mezz Watchorn, Mick Wilson and Mark Pedge with a score of 142, a full six points clear of runners-up Alex Fairbrother, Scott Cartwright, Cameron Young and Mike Catlin.

The third-placed team of Matt Thompson, Mark Muggleton, Doug Woolley and Ray Smith returned to the clubhouse with 132.

* The ladies’ Mail on Sunday team played their first round competition earlier this month against Stoke Rochford.

The close rivals had a great match with the Melton team of Leah Radford, Elaine Shelton, Julia Brown, Denise Waldron and Drina Terzza coming out on top with a winning margin of four games to one.

Team and lady captain Karen Middleton were thrilled to win through to the next round.

* The Monday Morning Minglers took advantage of excellent conditions to play their regular greensome competition.

Steve and Karen Middleton finished first with a nett 36.6 from runners-up Terry and Julia Brown (nett 40.4) and third-placed Tom Eadon with Elaine Shelton (nett 41.2).

The day’s best fourball was Haydn and Liz Snow with Steve and Karen Middleton with a combined nett score of 79.2.
