Melton junior Assassins claim hat-trick of wins in Crewe

Have your say

Three Assassins juniors joined a bill full of international fighters at Crewe on Saturday.

Billy Hammond (10) chalked up a great win against experienced opponent, Dec Dawson, from the Peel Thai gym.

The Melton fighter began strongly and clearly hurt his opponent in the second round, and halfway through the round the referee stopped the fight, awarding the win to Hammond.

Saxon Nugent (12) also faced a Peel Thai fighter and multiple British title holder Cole Oliver.

Saxon did not perform to his full potential, but scored well throughout and used his footwork efficiently to win.

Kian Nolan (13) faced Kyron Jani, from Stoke Thai, in what proved to be a great fight. The Assassin was the aggressor, moving forward and throwing kicks and withstood a fightback from Jani to win on all three judges’ scorecards.

* The Assassins’ first Melton show of the year is on Saturday, March 7 at Melton Market and features a return fight between Michael Robinson and Lewis Gallant. Robinson lost the original contest on a close decision.
