Melton Indoor Bowls Club defeated their nearest rivals Barnstone in the final round of matches to win the House of Townend Warren Triples League crown.
The hosts stormed into an early 13-shot lead after just five ends, and although Barnstone fought to try and bridge the gap, Melton IBC pushed hard and by 15 ends had increased their advantage to 23 shots.
They kept up the pressure in the top-of-the-table clash to take the match by 25 shots, but Barnstone took a rink win to deny the home team maximum points.
* In Saturday evening’s other match, Belvoir Vale Bowls Club and Syston Bowls Club played on just three rinks, with Syston having already conceded a rink.
The match started steadily and at half-time. Syston held a slender three-shot lead.
They pushed hard to keep control and went on to clinch the match by 16 shots on aggregate with two rink wins.
