There was a derby match in the House of Townend Warren Triples League as Melton Indoor Bowls Club’s A and B teams went head-to-head.

Both teams battled hard for control from the start and the Bs took a slender one-shot lead after 10 ends.

The A side stepped up the pressure and by 15 ends had turned the tables, leading by five shots. But Melton B picked up 15 shots in the final three ends to their opponents’ four to win overall.

The other match between Belvoir Vale and Barnstone also proved a close game as Vale went looking for their first win in the league.

But by nine ends, Barnstone had built an 11-shot cushion, and they withstood a fierce fightback from the Hose club to win the match by just one shot.
