The re-arranged Melton Golf Club’s Seniors Silver Plate was played last Tuesday using a medal format which made good course management vital.
Tom Eadon showed his experience to win with nett 70 and take the lowest gross prize despite double bogeys on the last two holes. Ken Dimaline (71) was second and Julian Kisiel (72) finished third.
* On the same day the inaugural Senior Captain’s Cup for players over 75 was played.
The 11-hole stableford format was won by Frank Williams with 21 points just one ahead of Ken Dimaline. Neville Palmer and Vic Newham were tied for third with 18.
* Stoke Rochford seniors’ first match of the season was played in summery conditions.
