As the Monday Morning Minglers weekly contest draws closer to is conclusion at Melton Golf Club, the race for top position is hotting up.
This week’s competition was abandoned because of weather conditions, but the previous Monday’s round was won by Bob and Pat Barnes with a score of nett 33.8.
Once again, Phil Millward and Sandie Normanton were runners-up, scoring nett 35.2, while Sam Wright and Maureen Stapleford were only just pipped into third place, 0.2 adrift of Phil and Sandie.
The best fourball score was Bob and Pat Barnes with Phil Millward and Sandie Normanton who carded a combined nett 69.0
* The poor weather did not deter the club regulars from joining a three-ball am-am stableford on Saturday.
The team of Matt Catton, Ray Catton and Gary Kitchen won the day with 72 points, four clear of runners-up Mark Lewis, Pete Rayers and Keith Tomblin.
Third place went to Anthony Halls, Brian Haines and Alan Hodgkinson who finished one back with 67.
Steve Goddard shot a brace of two’s on the day and shared the sweep with George Boddy, and Ray and Matt Catton.
